HomeGold Tournament 2017

On Saturday, July 29, the Canyon Club hosted its first annual charity golf event at Tijeras Creek Golf Club in Rancho Santa Margarita. With the help of some very generous sponsors, volunteers and golfers – as well as a world-class golf venue – the entire day was a huge success! Not only was it fun for everyone that participated, but it was also financially successful as the event brought in close to $12,000 for the Canyon Club and its members.  We even signed up 12 new Canyon Club members on the golf course, thanks to the membership committee being strategically located on the 18thhole!

Over 100 golfers showed up for this inaugural event, where they were greeted by nearly 30 volunteers who helped both on and off the course, and the day proceeded to be filled with challenging and fun activities ranging from a putting contest to a longest drive competition, and even a marshmallow hole that proved to be a smashing success! And when the golfers returned to the club house to post their scores for a chance to win a trophy, they were met by a helicopter that swooped in from Orange County airport to drop over 350 balls onto the putting green, thus lining several pockets with $100 bills when their numbered balls fell into the hole!

The day concluded with a buffet dinner and silent auction, attended by both golfers and several of our non-golfing friends who joined us for dinner only. And when the meal ended,  the contest winners were announced and prizes awarded (the winners shot 18 under par!), followed by the silent auction results that generated over $2000 in sales and resulted in some very nice gift baskets going home with 15 lucky individuals! We also gave out several raffle prizes, and mixed and mingled with each other as the night came to an end.

On behalf of the Canyon Club board of directors, we would like to thank everyone that participated in this inaugural event and helped make it a wonderful experience. And if you didn’t get a chance to participate, we encourage you to join us next year – as a player, sponsor or volunteer – and enjoy the fun we all had and the camaraderie we shared while raising money for the Canyon Club, which supports our local community with much needed services for those in recovery.

Thanks again and we look forward to seeing you all next year!
